I had the chance to fire off some stuff last night, mainly rockets- bits and bobs left over from various things- and also a few new spec cakes, mainly Men Shun stuff from around the £10 RRP range.

What was notable was the bright colours, but also a lack of "whack" at the distance we were at , which was about 40m away. For sure, they looked very pretty, and some of the lingering comets were stunning- but never the less, they all seemed a little.... tame. Not that tame is necessarily a bad thing, but it was noticable. For sure, these were smaller items from a larger range, so I wasn't expecting much else.

I love my Cat 3, of course, but in this instance other people had stuff that outshone it a little! :D
OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

David 40m is plenty for retail fireworks which may say 5, 8, or 25m on them. Even a 25m firework is likely to look tame at 40m! Very few people who buy retail have 40m safety distance.

Keep mannequins and watermelons away from fireworks..they always get hurt..

it also depends on the fireworks you use as well as some brands are better than others, though if you pay cheap you pay twice!!

Its where we have always stood for our Cat 3 at this location- its a farm, so we tend to let fireworks off on a field, and stand in the yard. It's not exactly a measured distance, as such, just where it is practical to stand. Previously its always been fine- a good distance for watching Cat 3.

I could have put money on that happening David.
Lets see if more people complain this year.

On a more more positive note, some of the new spec Cat 2 stuff looks brilliant from about 10m.
