I was wondering what star sizes do you guys use for wich shells?
Both spherical as canister shells.
Because if I wanted to roll stars I'd like to know which sizes to make.
Same goes for starplates. I'd like to know wich to buy.
If possible, a list would be nice and preferrably mentioned in mm.
e.g.

1" - 2mm
2" - 5mm
2.5" - 7mm
3" - 10mm
...

I have handrolled stars but made them way to big for my 2" or 2.5" lol that's for sure :)

It completely decides on the type of star I'm using. Generally though strobe stars burn slower, as do perchlorate stars compared to chlorate stars. Streamer stars often burn fast too.

Your best bet is to make small batches of the types of composition you are likely to be using, pump stars of that size and test their burn times, then adjust the sizes accordingly until you are happy with the results.

In general though this is what I use:
1" shells and bombettes:
Colour stars 2-4mm
Streamer stars 3-6mm

2" shells
Colour stars 3-6mm
Streamer stars 5-8mm

3" shells
Colour stars 5-10mm
Streamer stars 8-12mm

5" shells
Colour stars 8-15mm
Streamer stars 10-20mm

Note that 4" shells are missing, as I have never made them.
You can never have a long enough fuse...

Thanks pyromaniac303!
Now I have a bit of an idea what to use.
I might order some starplates but then again I would rather make spherical shells then canisters so a starroller is something I definatly need to build :)
As for roman candles (plan on making these in the future as well) I think I'd better buy star pumps for those right

If more people have a list either commercial or the size they make I'd be happy to hear it ;)
