Hi
Just a newbie at all this pyro and i was wondering what size screens to get for mixing composition etc...I notice when making BP you have to screen it down to different sizes..
How many screens do i need .and what size? not just for BP but also other pyro comps?..my local lab supplier can get them but there expensive ?38 each Stainless steel and 8" diameter..I reckon on 3 or four screens for BP and ???? for other comps?
Any advice wellcome
Thanks

For BP you can't do better than look at Dan Williams article at:
Dan Williams
He suggests 4, 10, 20 & 40 mesh for BP and that works well for me.
I find 10 & 20 also very useful for mixing.
I use 80 to screen fine charcoal & don't generally find the need for anything smaller than that.
If you use Chlorate you should have separate screens for these mixs.
Steve on this website had screens for sale by the square foot, make them up yourself - they were very good - don't know if he has any left...
Otherwise try pottery/ceramic suppliers who often do screens or ready made sieves -alot cheaper!
