OK Heres what I thought of some supermsrket stuff how did your display go anything you would say yes that was great and recomend or anything you was disapointed with

OK so first I tried from Tesco Mercury strike shot tubes 9 tubes in a pack was impressed brought them with some Mercury Rising rockets you got both for £25 roclets was ok went up small bang and ejects stars but the shot tubes were better than the rockets more effect

From last year we had 4 Standard garden cakes with 16 shots each you had to be 5m back £5 each for a pack of 2 thats 4 cakes 64 shots from £10 you get a trailing stars cake and a ice blue cake in each pack

The firestorm pack from last year we kept it was worth the money yopu got 2 for £50 used one last year you get some good fountains and a cake and 2 shot tubes with 3 shots in them and a cake for the end

We also had the weco lord of the nights cake pack thought it would of been better looking at the images on the packageing but I was satisfied with the outcome arround 200 shots in all 2 large cakes and 2 smaller round tube ones these had a roman candle effect as well as shots

My friend tried some of the TNT stuff from asda never again the chep pack is not worth it and the rockets no effect like last year

How did your display go anything to recomend I will upload a video of my diaplay to youtube my dad filmed it to not very good

Our stuff last night I'll write up what I thought and stuff, we didn't fire them in this order this is just random, fired rockets inbetween all the cakes and mixed everything up over the night, heres what we were firing...





Well the big rockets, Sky Thrillers were good, great boom and gold willow. King Cobras were very good nice effects but not as long lasting as Sky Thriller.

Epic smaller/medium rockets we had, Space Blaster, Supreme, Heat Seeker, Super Starburst, Bazooka Bomb, all spot on nice big effects for their size and nice loud bang. Easily killed off the neighbours rockets just with them.

Mines, Moon Booms as good as ever, Black Cat Master Mines, mental! Brung the neighbours out later on with the bangs and crackle, piercing whistle aswell.

Fountains, Krazy Klock, I'm a bit dissapointed, nice effects but didn't last as that long. Digital Life was poorer than those in the Companion Box despite being bigger.

Brothers Companion Box, can't recommend it enough, the 15 shot cakes are mental, loud bangs and huge bursts for their size and excellent fountains in the box. A nice roman candle aswell.

Bright Star Sky Lantern, Yellow colour, went up well, decided to go sideways behind us instead of up and brushed next doors house on it's way out. It finnaly went up ok though and we could see it flying round for a good 10 minutes.

Fiery Eye wheel, thanks to us knocking the nail in to far it didn't spin and got stuck, we checked it, seemed to go round ok before we lit it but it didn't work.

Cakes well, Epics 25 shot ones were brilliant, we had Dr Thrust, Sky Lab and Mad Moth all fantastic effects and sounds and nice bangs.

King Cobra 25 shot as good as ever nice bangs and big effects.

First Dynasty 19 shot, not as good as Fragma I thought but still worth it, nice coloured palm breaks.

Brothers Choice, these are just the real deal aren't they? Absolute quality, had the full set this year after just having Imperial last year. Regal was our first firework of the night at 7.30pm and with the neighbours firing a few bits and pieces as they had been at it since 6pm, this really took the sky over.

6 Machine, I really liked this, nice bangs and 6 bursts in every shot, big bursts aswell real sky filler.

Devils Dungeon, nice and loud and brilliant gold bursts with hanging effects that stayed in the sky for ages. Finale sounded like a machine gun firing.

Heavy Duty, what a firework, fired it midway through the evening, so many effects all together and went on for a long time, big bursts, loud bangs and the whistles were great. Finale of loads of whistles and bursts in one was awesome.

Army Cube, spinning whistling tails to a bang and big burst, good stuff! Cube Strobe Blast was nice bangs and burst.

Blast Mania 100 shot pen lid, whistle and pop, great value.

Cube Yandino was brilliant, really big loud bursts and a great finale.

We saved a lot of the 'bigger' cakes for later on and by around 8.30pm almost all other houses had finished. Going on for 9.15pm we fired Yandino.

Cube The Wall was next, brilliant cake, seemed to go on for ages, every shot reached a really good height with loud bangs and bursts and kept on going.

By now it was 9.45pm neighbours had all finished and the area was quiet with only a few things going off on the skyline. We had a few rockets left so got through those.

Heard a few people out on their gardens watching our stuff and a group of kids was on the front watching, also neighbours watching from the windows, so out came Raging Bull.

This was 50 shots of madness, absolutely loved it, big colourful bursts, loud screeching whistles, long lasting crackles and flying fish. More bursts and a mad finale of bangs and crackles everywere, quality! Heard the crowd on the front shout ''WOW ****** AWESOME!''.

Next up Open Fire, also mental, quiet all round after Raging Bull had finished and then this went up, brilliant fanned effects and huge bursts and colours, great crackling finale.

Thankfully the weather was good all night, just a bit of spitting rain for about 5 minutes and that was it, just cloudy.

So that was our night done and dusted, started at 7.30pm and finshed at about 10.00pm with a break inbetween. Hardly any competition from neighbours this year and our stuff wiped the floor with what other stuff was going up round the neighbourhood, everyone had a great time, roll on next year!

Some comments during the evening from the guests...

During a big cake... ''Bloody hell women and children first!!''.

During a big cake...''God it's like battle of Bagdad!''.

After The Wall... *loud laughter*...''Bloody hell, neighbours will think we've more money than sense!!''

Also... ''It's like flamin' Iraq!!''.

I fired all my stash last night.The weather was good after an early shower and everything fired o.k.,it took me just over two hours to fire it all and i was not dissapointed with anything i had bought.The best rockets i had this year were Kimbolton's "Magellan",really good starbursts with spinners,whistles and my favourite spinners to loud reports,just like the old shrapnel rockets!I also had a lot of stuff from the Cube range and these were all fantastic,really good effects and loud bangs especially "Titanium Salute" which fired two bursts of silver fish followed by volleys of three really loud reports over and over,my kind of firework! I also had the "Wall",a really excellent firework,a display in itself.I also had some Dancing Red Devil stuff which wasn't too bad despite what i'd heard the rockets were fine with a decent bang and starburst.I'd also recommend Brothers "Whistle Stop" and "Siren Call",superb multi-effect cakes.I also had some "Black Cat"stuff,old spec,which were excellent especially my favourite "Ringshell" rockets which all gave a perfect circle.Another piece i'd highly recommend is "Revolution" from Planet,a proper whirling screecher cake just like the old Standard ones and very amusing with it!
Although not as busy as last year there were quite a few going off in my neighbourhood,i think a lot are waiting until tomorrow,it was all quiet by 10.30.All in all a good night and no complaints!

Sounds nice but is all I heard around me where bang crackle bang crackle, these crackles are sooo overused it is becoming a truly annoying and expected effect in virtually every firework. I aint sure who designs these cakes effects but god they must love crackles. I can just think of what they may be doing for next year 'Oh what shall we do for this cake 'Devil licks his ass' ooooh I know we will have coloured comets that erupt into golden crackling microstars and lets just stick in a few odd peony shells and for the finale we shall have 26 crackling shells with extra loud bigger crackling bursts.'. I still personally want to see much more effect, phases and effect layering going on in each firework. I have seen some excellent quality cakes on youtube which where beautiful and contained great effects but never see anything like them in England.

just let some of my stuff go, the smaller stuff i had planned for last night but we got back late from an organised display so decided to save it for tonight as the little one was asleep next door....

let off some cheapies that i got from lidl, not too bad for the price paid, short duration fountains mainly.

Fired a moon boom mine from epic, very loud indeed but the shots were near the ground before they finally exploded.

A few of the barraged from the battle of iwo jima pack from epic, some were quiet multi shot cakes, some had pretty nice bursts for such small bore cakes.

Fired some space blaster, supreme & mega rockets, again from epic. Better than last year as i recall, very loud bursts and great effects with every break, never get tired of these, truly are the best value rockets i've ever fired.

Let off 2 echo bombs & a tomahawk, to be honest when having the much smaller rockets from the mega/supreme packs i don't know what all the fuss is about, the break from the tomahawk wasn't much bigger, but obviously the stars were bigger as the effect lasted longer, the echo bomb was maybe a little louder than the above but wasn't really noticable....launched against a supermarket rocket though there would be no comparison!

I think the best firework of the night goes to Royal party, i think the cake was called "cascade of colour. 1.4g as stated on the label, 25 shots, not very loud being 1.4g obviously, but the breaks were quite large, and it does indeed live upto its name, the colours were fantastic, a mixture of colour in every break, greens, reds, blues...etc...very vry nice!

bring on tomorrow when i can fire by bigger cakes and my Black Cat Master Mines mwuahahaha

Nice to hear some thoughts on Echo Bomb, I agree with you about the bigger rockets, Epic's 'medium' rockets are just awesome, theres not much difference!

Fired all of mine tonight, had some cracking stuff. Cube's The Wall was easily the highlight, but had some other brilliant cakes as well. I was really disappointed with the Kimbolton Medusa rockets, they were less impressive than the TNT Warhawk ones we had from Lidl :-( The Cyclops rockets (also Kimbolton) were better. I was pleasantly surprised by the Halo fountain from Sainsbury's (Standard) - it was basically Jumping Jelly Beans (as far as I can tell - I've only ever seen a video of Jumping Jelly Beans).

This was the one that had us all p*ssing ourselves laughing after it finished and one of the quotes from the guests...''Bloody hell, neighbours will think we've more money than sense!!'', meaning the guests thought it was awesome.

Epic's 'medium' rockets are just awesome, theres not much difference!

I was pleasantly surprised with the volume of the fireworks to be honest. I've only really had my current passion for home displays for about a year now, so am not really aware of the old spec / new spec distinction, but I had some pretty loud stuff this year. OK, not as loud as a professional display but there were still some pretty decent bangs coming out of the cakes I had (not particularly 'echoing' bangs, more like very loud pops). I'm just hoping that it was new spec and not just old, left-over old spec stock I'd somehow managed to come by. Because if it was old spec then I guess I won't be able to get hold of it again so easily, however, if it was actually new spec then I'm pretty pleased!

A couple of Kimbolton cakes, especially 'Mutant Space Cherries', and a Night Star barrage blast pack (12 small to medium-sized cakes) were all pretty loud - what are the chances that these were actually old spec? The Kimbolton Plotter's Keg was also pretty loud, so I'm hoping that was also new spec.

I hope I can still get something as impressive as The Wall again for next year's display; that was sheer awesomeness in a box.

New spec stuff, made this year, can be satisfyingly loud. Most of the new spec stuff I used was certainly loud enough for my audience.

That said, it simply is not as loud as the deep, echoing "booms" of old spec fireworks.
