It's like many things in life.you want to reduce the risks as much as possable and keep things as safe as possable. when you are able to accomplish this it's time to go out and some fun.If you know alittle knowledge about sound and radio waves then you will understand the reasoning behind getting the height of the mortar at the correct height above ground level to get a reverberating sound rather than just a large bang. I have found that 1.1 meters with the ally that iI am using works incredabily well.
Ps If I said I'm working with Calf milk replacement powder and it is working very well what would you say? Have you tried it?

Oh yes calf milk and creamer buckets what an effect. I have used these in my other hobby rc model aircraft and as part of our yearly public display a re enactment of the battle of Britain occurs with rc model spitfires, hurricanes, me109 and fw190s, flying over a simulated model village made out of card board, with airbombs and maroons fired in to the air from mortar tubes positoned amongst the village to simulate flak, ground maroons placed in the houses simulate b**bs hitting them and the whole thing is finished with an almighty ground maroon and creamer bucket sending an almighty fireball approx 60ft high by 30ft wide.

Yup thats sounds about correct, their good and also very cheap. I have done quite a few of these and so far have only damaged one bucket. I get my replacement powder in 25kg bags up north and costs about ?25.00. I use a H3 powder to lift and again like you I use an electric match to ignite the H3.
