Quick Black Powder Question

Just to get you guys going, the missus has been baking today
I have a choice of apple, cider or banana cake :)
If the UKPS ever has a cake stall give me a shout.

one thing you can do to tell if your powder is too coarse (and therefore will burn more slowly), is to take a little out of the mill and rub it between your thumb and forefinger. It it feels like talcum powder, is is fine enough and any slow burn will probably be chemical related. If it has any gritty bits at all, even small, mill it for longer. It's good to do this with your eyes closed so you rely on the feel of the powder alone and not on the visual aspect.




As far as cake goes, get your missus to make a tipsy cake. With wine and crabapple jelly and fresh cream. Delicious.

Do you have the recipe, I have had a look on line and there seems to be an awful lot of variations

Got some vine charcoal today from cooperman so I have a mix in right now using the 75-15-10 ratio so I will see if there is any difference...

In the meantime is there any use for my slow meal powder?
