being that this is a EU regulation have the uk any power to step in and point out this pointless act.?

I have read the legislation to ensure I knew exactly what it was saying. Yes the UK can opt out, but they won't.

Phew that was close.

Where there is a will there is a way.

My concern is who is going to issue the licences? If this is done correctly then there should be no problem getting one as the legislation should be prescriptive (a set of rules).

One of those rules may mention suitable premises though.
A fair few of the membership may fall foul of that I think.

I have read it cover to cover, I did not see anything relating to business users that mentioned suitable premises. OK I assume a licencing authority would want to ensure suitable premises for a member of the public, but a business would be responsible for ensuring things are done correctly rather than an external authority.

It has to be said though, I would be concerned if my neighbour was storing large amounts of "stuff" in a terraced house which could be a hazard to me.

I feel that we all have a responsibility to ensure what we do is safe and will not affect those around us in the event of an accident. I am a great believer in, if you can't do it safely then don't do it.

We can't afford to do stupid things as we could easily get hammered by the media if we get it wrong.

Do your own risk assessment, however you like.
