On Second Thought.......

This formula is a bit energetic, it is published in many books, so I'll withdraw it for now............

Lord,

The chems are indeed within your realm, the space and the understanding authorities however are probably not. It is very loud and bright.

The problem with Mag-55 is the preparation, the use of Potassium Dichromate to protect the Magnesium. The whole process evolves Hydrogen gas whilst the Mag is added to the Pot/Dichromate solution, the wonderful orange powder is known to cause cancer and stains everything it touchs, etc. When I do make it, I make limited quantities, (only exception being things like the Punkin bustin's which thankfully only come once a year) for shell inserts, it is so bright when it goes, you walk around with white spots where you could be enjoying colors during a show...... I don't like handling it or manufacturing it, hence as Mark said, I withdrew/reconsidered posting it.......glad now I did :o Pyrodude, my humble advice is leave the Mag-55 alone, it only takes one mistake in the process to make the whole batch a genie in(or out of) a casing, who really, really wants out, with no good intent..... I will be happy to share all except flash/boomer/HE formula's with anyone either through posts or PM's anything I can share, I will as I always have. But I draw the line with experience, I don't want anyone getting hurt over there and I got over "My boomers are better than yours" a long long time ago.........OUCH, Dern soapbox broke.......

Regards, Stay green,

Gentlemen - Please don't discuss Mag-55 or it's versions in here. I understand some of the more experience feel comfortable with formulas that are more sensitive then Flash, but at least some of our members don't need this realm introduced just yet. While some will argue that this formulation does not move into the realm of HE - it will make your wooden workspace into lots of little toothpicks. Burl, thanks for withdrawing this formulation.

Mag 55? Is that the name of the formula or does it denote the type of Mg used? I have what is known as grade 5 Mg (basically as fine as pyro alu) so wondered if that had anything to do with it. Pyro Mg over here ranges from Gr 6 (talc) to Gr 0 (coarse as salt).

Actually it's 2 micron, coated, ( Magnesium Oxide as part of the process) even with the products "Coated" moniker it needs to be treated with Pot. Dichromate....Muhahahahahaha......it sucks to work with, it's constituants are all health hazards and as I have said if you are actually going to treat it with dichromate, getting it back to 2 micron is a risky business....Muhahahahahahha*BOOM*.....Nuf Said, I am outta this thread.......And I started it, so with all due respect, I can finish it.

Shall we start up with paris green blues next.........Realgar..........Red P........Geez.....................Pups, gotta feed em, gotta love em, but geez if they're not a pain in the ***......
