First of all, I hope this sort of post is appropriate for this forum - if "gizza job" type messages are frowned upon, then I apologise in advance!!

If anyone's looking for an extra pair of experienced hands on any shows in future, I'd be interested in hearing from you. I'm based near Chester, so anything around Cheshire or North Wales would be ideal - but I've done shows further afield before and would be happy to do so again. Experience-wise, I've worked on all sorts of shows, large and small, on a variety of types of site. BPA level 1 qualified, ADR licence, experience of working with Pyromate and FireOne electrical firing systems, lots of experience of theatrical pyro (theatre is my 'day job'), and not afraid of a bit of hard graft!

I used to get out on shows fairly regularly a few years ago, but what with one thing and another it's taken a bit of a back seat for the last couple of years - but I miss it, and I'd like to get back to working with fireworks more regularly.

Anyway, if any of you guys need an extra pair of hands on a show in this part of the world, get in touch! (E-mail address is gareth at ghlx dot co dot you kay - just circumvent the obvious anti-spam measures to make it work! ;))

Cheers.

Gareth.

Edit : I also meant to mention that I have access to a FireLite XL firing system with twelve firing modules, which is sometimes available for rental. Get in touch if you're interested. Thanks.

Who did you used to fire for? Any chance of getting back with them?

I still do the odd show every now and then with a couple of local chaps with whom I've been involved for many years, but they only do the occasional one on an informal basis, nothing regular. I used to do quite a lot for Fantastic Fireworks, but you know how it is - you go through a period when you're really busy with other stuff, have to say no to a few consecutive phone calls asking about availability, and people start calling you less often! I still get a call from FF from time to time, but sod's law dictates that it's always for work on days when I'm busy elsewhere. These days, all the people that I used to know at FF have moved on - and to be honest, I'd quite like to get involved with companies who are a little smaller and more 'personal', if you see what I mean. It's not that I have any sort of problem with FF - quite the opposite, they took me on as a firer when I was first starting out and I was lucky enough to do some really great shows with them over time - but the idea of getting involved with companies who are a little smaller in terms of scale (in the sense of the size of the operation, not the size of the shows!). Does that make sense?!
