We had somewhere between 18" and 2 feet of snow last week but most of its gone. The garden etc is still covered but there's only about 4 inches or so left. My kids were off school all last week here due to school closures.

Hopefully we are going to miss this next lot!

Yes, the weather is truly awful. Here in southern Nevada it's been raining gently all day and the temperature barely reached 20C. <gloat>

Seriously, you guys must be having some awful weather. My son was stranded at Gatwick all day because his flight was canceled and he may not get out until next week. Still, you should appreciate the early snow for its incredible rarity. In the 40-plus years I lived in England, I never once saw a white Christmas. The nearest it ever came was the winter of 61/62, when it started snowing on Boxing Day. I'm almost tempted to fly over there to experience it ... nah, I might not be able to get home for the New Year fireworks.

FROZEN BRITAIN!!!! It's doing my head in. Abit of snow, low temps and the country shuts down. Postman (sorry, got to be "PC") post people cant walk in snow, I would think this is due to 'Where theres a blame, theres a claim'. Wish the news would change the tape they have on loop!!

My mates just become a dad (again) and is off back getting shot at next week.

I know people have been banging on about how the country comes to a standstill, however I think we actually coped pretty well all things considered.

We had 18" of snow. Where I work there are around 70 - 100 28 tonne loads that go out every single day. Not a single load did not go out on time. There were a few delays in transit, but every delivery was made right around the country.

OK some side streets we pretty hairy, but all the main routes were well treated in general. We had people complaining that the council weren't doing enough. But they weren't even prepared to get a shovel and clear their drive and the road outside their house (side streets). We have been over nannied in this country. If every one on the side streets got a spade out and spent 15 minutes clearing half way across the street in front of their house then there would not have been any issues.
Phew that was close.

Now why can't a news reader say this. Some of these people need to come rig a show in some of the conditions us pyro's have to

Your right Digger, people today can`t even be bothered to keep there driveways clear, they would rather get in there cars and block up the roads just to travel a few miles.

Having said that, our council is also useless & clueless to think long term, because they won`t spend any money on clearing main road pavements by adapting there motorized pavement cleaning vehicles because they are frightened of losing local & town centre parking revenue, in effect many businesses suffer.

Here's a small snowman, best we could do in 15 minutes - not this year, but a couple of years ago when we had quite a bit of snow one night. The weight broke a branch off my tree.

Get out in the snow and let some fountains and candles off. The extra reflection makes them look beautiful.

I was trying to get out in the snow in Oxfordshire with Candle at the weekend to do a display for his firms Christmas party, but instead spent 10 hours doing a 200 mile round trip in the snow at 2 miles an hour! (no, I know it does not add up) - rescheduled for January!

Bad luck - we had 8+ inches of snow on Saturday morning alone so there was no hope of clearing the roads. I spent yesterday afternoon shovelling snow from the driveway, pavement and street and now it's snowing yet again :(
