Hi Guys,

I have just bought a 2" mortar and plan on launching some home made 2" canister shells.

I need to get some lift powder but have read so much conflicting information about which type to use.

I want to use this site as the guys seems really helpful:

http://www.black-powder.co.uk/bp.htm

Which powder on here would you recommend I get, I only want a little to just get used to becoming good at it before I move on.

Thank you.

Tim.

Hi Tim, I'm not sure many of us can answer your question. None of them there powders say 2" morta lift powder, and if it did we wouldn't buy it at that price. You can make a kilo of top quality lift for as little as 3 quid, with some time and patience, oh and a lot of reading. Most of the members on here will gladdly help you but if they see you trying to run before you can walk they may just skip your post. Honestly, have a go at making it, its so easy and rewarding and addictive, but take your time.
Our saviours : In the ninth century, a team of Chinese alchemists trying to synthesize an "elixir of immortality" from saltpeter, sulfur, realgar, and dried honey instead invented gunpowder.

if you have gone to the trouble of making a full 2" shell then you must have made all the components inside so a little bit of lift power would be easy. but to answer your question you would need fine or mediam powder (2FA also FFA or FFG) but i assume you have a Acquire licence from your local police otherwise there's no point as they wont even talk to you without one.

also there are cheaper places like essex pyro.

this guide may help
