I made a batch of the rubber stars from skylighter a whille ago, the ones that are screen cut, this has to be the easiest way to form stars!
I tried the same method on tiger tails today and Shimizu Blue #2, both of these crumbled whilst exiting the screen and resulting in a mess of bits

Is it only "rubber" stars that can be cut this way or are there other comps that work? (I'm using a Cooperman #2 screen)

And you bought stuff from skylighter? because everytime ive spoke to the guy that runs them he has always said sorry i cant ship to the uk. Thanks for answering my question anyway.

I only used the instructions off the website, got all the ingredients from UK. Dont think it was too dry, I think its more along the lines of plyability that is the problem.

Then theirs a good chance its because its a different star formular. I think only the rubber stars may work not 100% sure thought but why dont you try a star plate or the good old ruler methode

I cut pretty much everything with my ruler, which is pretty good but these screen cut jobbies are so uniform and quick to do I'd like to see if more stars can be cut this way.

Yep i get you mate, you could try it again as really thats about the top of my nolege that i can give you on this perticular situation but i would personally get a decent star pump also as they can pump quite a few nicely formed ones.

You can cut Tiger tail but as they dont contain rubber you can't use acetone as the solvent! In other words tiger tail are not rubber stars! Use the correct formula which uses dextrin and use water or 75/25 water / alcohol as the solvent. You can then cut / roll / pump them as you like.

Interesting mate i thought it was something to do with the formular but tbh way out of my nolege haha

I'm a little confused as to why you think I would use acetone in tiger tails, never have done, never would, as you say the dextrin won't set.

The rubber stars cut perfectly, I've made them a few times now and they stay together very well through a screen. I just want to know is it the parlon that adds elasticity to the mix so it stays together or are there other stars that will screen cut?

Hey mate, i imagine any star would cut that way as long as its using the rubber star formular mate.



Give me a link to these stars so i can have a look mate
