Made my first batch of red gum black powder per skylighter inst. Was impressed at the speed of the powder without doing any ballmilling. As far as Fa and Fg is the size of the grain the only diff. or is there any other differences. I know that they use a different scale.

The sporting powders (Fg) are often glazed by tumbling with graphite. Other than that composition and method of manufacture is pretty much identical save for the different gradings.

I wouldnt have thought so, my thought on it would be the smooter a surface the less surface area= less reactivity or slower flame propegation ( think sand due opposed to rocky mountains). I could be completely wrong though so open to be shot down

I might be wrong but was always of the understanding that the graphite was to make it flow "pour" easier when it is used in muzzle loading guns??
