I have 4 spaces available on a short pyro awareness course being held this Sunday coming (040911) near to Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.
The course will be about 2 1/2 hours long and will introduce new users to pyrotechnics.
There are discussion modules on storage, transportation, and risk assessments. A practical demo of various articles and substances and a workshop session on electrical initiation (using matchead igniters) and conventional initiation using burning fuses.
The course has been put together for the specific needs of a reenactment group but there is sufficient capacity for 4 more students.
PM me please if you want to know more - other than the cost which is a ludicrously cheap £30 per head. ( there is no food/drink at the site and no shelter if wet)
As I said , this is very much an intro course/taster session.
All attendees will get a certificate detailing the content of the course.
Please note this is not generally a fireworks related course and it certainly wont qualify you for Cat4 products.
Over to you.........

You may wish to keep an eye on the ASP courses page as well.
Yeh thanks, been looking on there, thinking of doing the one in wakefield as its closest, have you been on any or know anyone that has?

SCJB, phildunford and I certainly have done the ASP course. There are other occasional posters who have passed the course. At the moment it is the only real course detailing the work and safety considerations for Stage Pyro, if that is you area of interest then that is the course that you should do The leader is very well regarded in the stage pyro industry.
