Where i am proposing to have my venture it is a storage yard, even though i have my 28m from any vulnerable building,i do have some caravans in winter storage near by,i would imagine that as long as these are in no danger of catching fire from the heat of the container if it did catch fire then they should not be a problem.

The reason i posted this is that reading through acop i can see little information regarding this sort of situation, the only reg that i have seen is that they recommend if your storage is in a car park you should keep a 3m separation distance around your store, which i would of thought that this could apply in my situation.

M.S.E.R schedule3 regulation11(6)is a table showing max quantity of pyrotechnic articles whichmay be kept for a period of time in an associated sales area .The bigger you shop the more you are allowed . As a container half is probably less than 20M floor area you are allowed 12.5 kg nec which will equate to approx 50 kg fireworks. I have recently gone through the process of obtaining registered storage and an all year round license . Yorkshire fire svc listed all the none compliances in their area .It made an ecellent 200+ point check list available on internet . Nottinghamshire where i am located is governed by trading standards.I approached the fire svc for advice on storage cabinets -Ideally metal outer wooden inner or wire cage to prevent projectiles (rockets ) escaping. They were superb free site visit +loads of practical advice they even left a phone number for further advice. good luck with your store .it will take a lot of work and dedication to form a year round income from fireworks alone

100kg Really isn't much, I'd perhaps aim for at least 250kg?

!00Kg doesnt sound much ,but 100k nec is realistically between 400 and 550kg of fireworks by the time you have them in different size un rated cardboard boxes that dont stack nicely . and your rockets with 5ft sticks on, a load of this size will fill 2 or 3 transit vans. It doesnt leave you much room for the gas cylinders and petrol cans ,even after youve chucked out the fire extinguisher and paperwork off the front seat. (just joking :P)

Its roughly.....

10 SIB's (@ 2kg max weight) 20kg = 1/5 of your storage

5 Cases of sleeved rockets (@20g / rocket, 5 rockets / sleeve, 20 sleeves / case) 10kg

4 Cases of large single rockets (@180g / rocket, 25 rockets / case) 18kg NEC

^ Thats already half of your 100kg, not a lot there really, then if you consider a few lines of small - medium cakes (@ 4 - 10kg NEC / Case) the number of lines you can carry will be minimal, selection boxes are powder rich as are big cones etc, sparklers eat up NEC too!

I know a member with a 250kg registered personal store, he reckons his limit is only about 10 boxes of 3" shells and a couple of cakes before 250kg has gone!

100kg NEC is not much at all, you ought to be looking at 1000 IMO, I havn't just plucked these figures either I spent a bit of time working / helping in retail fireworks :)

Sure some of the retailers will reinforce what I have suggested!
