If i can make my self usefull i will also put my hat in the ring to be a ukps staff member,and may i say i think steve will make a great chair and move the ukps to the next level.

The natural constituency of this Society is people who would like to make fireworks legally. It would have been a step forward if Phil's "Any Takers" idea had come off. As I posted in that thread a year ago,

"I don't want to bore people with my (by now) well known opinion, but the only hope for any loosening of the UK manufacturing laws (and continued relevance of UKPS) is to foster an active community of people who want to make their own fireworks, and demonstrate it by taking every opportunity to do so."

This is why I joined UKPS,the fear of the door going in at 4.30am has all but halted my "experiments".
the hope that we could emulate the Rocket boys and get legitimate was the driving force behind me joining.

Having said that I am fascinated with all things 'pyro and particularly the nostalgia aspects.

I am a single parent with health issues which somtimes render me practically useless,but I can use a 'phone &P.C. and can and do offer my time to assist in the furtherance of all the societies goals.

I'd like to give my thanks to all the "Active" members for what they have done so far,and as I said offer my time & limited skills to help whoever is to fill the big gap left by Richards retirement.

I to would like to put my self down a a staff member, not as chair as I think that Steve would do a very good job and like Richard would have a lot of respect that the Ukps needs for the hse to continue taking us seriously.

Over the years Iv felt the Ukps events and direction / comunication to it members have slowly gone down. But this is not the Ukps fault as there is only so much free time and support they can give. I know Richard feels very strong about the Ukps and I think it very big of him to do something he feels is best for the Ukps and I hope he still plays an active role in the organisation. Maybe with new blood and more staff members we could move the Ukps up to the next level.

Just for the record, the work we are doing (the UKPS legislation committee) is still ongoing and making progress through the HSE ELR. As I've stated in other posts, please be rest assured that this will still continue unaffected by any changes in the society leadership or its structure.

We(I) have spent the last 3 year pursuing the cause, so theres no chance of this stopping until the ELR process in complete in April 2012.

I hope this clarifies the situation.

Wayne, the project to be part of the ELR is one of the most important of the current functions of the Society, and I for one am exceptionally pleased that you have taken this on, learned how to speak legislative language, and furthered the redefinition of the 100g rule among other things. I hope that you will continue this to it's conclusion.

Without wishing to get anyones back up, does anyone know when / where / if / there will be an AGM this year.

I'm sure many members would be interested to know, and if it were the case that the existing committee is too busy to sort it, we would then know that we'd need to find someone else willing to step in

If I remember correctly the ELR is due to end in April, so presumably it might be sensible to have it after that?

The 2012 AGM is currently being arranged, the moment we can confirm dates and the venue it ill be announced.
