I am looking to touch base with a manufacturer of fireworks / pyrotechnics in India. I know there is an active industry out there but have not been able to make direct communicable contact with any of the factories, I would be particularly interested to do so with a smaller factory. Any pointers would be gratefully received.

You might have a little difficulty with this one because of child labour/bad publicity issues, I would be tempted to contact something like the indian trade commission or the UK`s department for trade & industry.
Have you tried `Standard` fireworks in India?
