I am having a bit of a clear out at the moment. I am intending to get rid of a few bits and bobs that I don't need.

After having a dig through my stores (more digging to do as the stock take goes on) I have come across a couple of items the people may or may not be interested in.

Copper Nitrate (not anhydrous). I have 25kg block of this, if some one wants it they can come and pick the lot up for £50 (the copper in it is probably worth this alone), if anyone wants a kilo then I will do that at £3.50 to cover the agro of packing it. Post would have to have to be by courier. I assume it has no use in commercial fireworks, but I am sure it could be of interest for experimental work.

Anhydrous 100% ethanol (no denaturants). This could be nice to use instead of meths as the vapours would not be toxic in the same way. I have a 205 liter drum of this that I would like to shift. It has been duty paid before I got it (£20 per liter to HM Customs). However I did not pay that for it, so I just want to get rid of it relatively sharpish. If someone wants the full drum then £2 per liter, for 25 liters £3 per liter (to cover drum costs) and £3.50 per liter. I can only ship it in 1 liter bottles as I can't be bothered shipping ADR on this due to the costs.

How is the manufacturing side of things Gareth? Noticed the crackdown on certain chemicals on ebay and also the 'clever' buying of labelled bottles sellers use to get round it!

Manufacturing side of things OK, it is taking me in directions that I did not expect and can't discus on an open forum.

mmmmm the labeling of bottles, quite frankly it P***es me off. I stick to the rules and there are those that flaunt them blatantly so it is not a level playing field. The thing that annoys me the most is there are sellers selling and posting items illegally (some items have been mentioned here, such as fuse and chemicals which have some serious misuse possibilities).

I got jumped on by ebay on one of my products completely non hazardous and they said that trading standards had contacted them so I contacted trading standards to find out the full story. Surprise surprise they had no record of it so I contacted ebay and they changed their story and said it was a different government agency, so I contacted them, same story. I contacted ebay again and they said their information was confidential and could not divulge their source, but I was free to re list the item if I wanted?????????

Had trading standards round after that. Fortunately no problems and they were happy with everything that I was doing. They checked my labeling etc and were happy with that.

The biggest question was "do you buy you products in pre weighed?"

To which I answered "no", followed by a sharp intake of breath.

"What scales do you have?" the next question.

My response "Metler Toledo weights and measures certified scales, would you like to see my calibration weights that are traceable to the national physics lab."

"Oh thats a relief we find so many people using kitchen scales" was his reply.

Anyway all water under the bridge, I don't realy think about it. I assume that some will be getting visits at some point if they continue with their actions, some may even be set ups to catch unsuspecting buyers.

I have been out of the country again for a little while. I have now taken delivery of some 1000ml bottles so I can bottle up the ethanol.

I will send those that expressed an interest an email tonight.
