Does anyone here know if these things have been banned/legislated out of public sales ??

I'm talking about the little silver fulminate/Quartz 'kiddy' toys, just in case of any confusion!!

Can't seem to find them anywhere ???

I've not seen them recently in stores, but my neighbour's boy had some last summer, -I'll ask but they may not remember.

My local party shop still stocked them a few months back, and they appear to still be available from various 'joke shop' online shops too.

They are still available, mostly known these days as 'Fun Snaps' instead of the old 'Devil Bangers' they used to be called over here. Priced around 41 - 50p per box it seems. Here's one example:

As other have said they're still around, I usually buy some whenever I see them as it's not very often nowadays. Great fun even for adults! :D

I emptied about twenty and piled it up on a steel plate, tapped it with a hammer and my hearing hasn't been the same since. Not just a knobhead, but a partially deaf knobhead
Our saviours : In the ninth century, a team of Chinese alchemists trying to synthesize an "elixir of immortality" from saltpeter, sulfur, realgar, and dried honey instead invented gunpowder.

I would be completely inappropriate for this forum but I can imagine the "Lucky to be Alive" thread would have some scary stories of our misspent youths.

When I look back on my motorcycle riding alone I shudder.
