You HAVE to get to Edinburgh city centre to witness their new year displays, based around the castle. The castle sits on a steep sided volcanic plug, which makes the ramparts perfect for attaching ridiculous amounts of fountains around the perimeter. By the end of the display, the whole mountain was shrouded in smoke. The finale shell was felt, as well as heard, like being punched in the chest, (a nice punch, though ). A sight to behold, well worth applying for party access (they close off the city centre) I haven't looked for a link for picture, but I'm sure there are many out there.
