Five strand QM burns fast however you tie it -no significant delay. Single strand "Spanish Match" will slow down nicely if you tightly bind  a length -it effectively becomes fast visco where tied.

If you want to chain shells with delay between each, the best way is with Bickford fuse or chinese time fuse bound tightly between the lengths of QM to create the delay, its about 1cm per second.

The way we do it is each shell gets its own bit of time fuse. So, 5 shells would have 5 lengths, each 1 cm longer than the previous, to give a 1 second delay between each. The opposite end from the shell leader then goes into 1 length of QM across all 5 time fuses, so 1 ignitor hits all 5 bits of time fuse at the same time.

Hope this makes sense, it's easier to demonstrate than explain !

That seams like a lot of fuse being used! The way I do it is one continuous piece of fuse with each QM end from the shells attaching to it. Like a Bus network, I think your describing something similar to a star network (Best analogy I could think of). I suppose as well you could double up the fuse to make it less likely to be blown out but It works fine all the same

I can see the reliability of your method as you know that all the shells will fire.
