just curious if anyone on the forum has ever tested the above camera or similar,

for small scale explosions at 240fps ? and if its any good for the job

from what i've read it could involve digital software manipulation to obtain the slowed down video ?

Agree with Kenneth, they're generally not brilliant for fireworks, the quality is not very good in low light, very washed out colours.

The slow motion feature is great, but will only really work in daylight experiments, at night the camera tends to get overwhelmed by the change in brightness and can't adjust in time. You can see this in the video from the AGM, only the first small effect is really any good:

Also an earlier video from the AGM shows the firework display filmed on a GoPro (except the set piece at the beginning). The wide angle is great for getting the whole display in where you don't have the distance, but the quality is nothing like what I've seen from a decent SLR camera...

This was the GoPro Hero 3 Black (not the new 3+ model).

The wide lenses tend to work against fair safety distances for the camera, though they do permit filming a big show from a small distance.

Keep mannequins and watermelons away from fireworks..they always get hurt..
