To make a "STAR ROLLING MACHINE"

Please, who might say to me the RPM (rounds per minute) ideal to make a star rolling machine with a motor reducer?

The speed of my machine always is going to be immovable; because of it you I ask the exact and necessary RPM to work well the pan.

Hello Jose.

Your question is not that easy to answer. There is not such thing is EXACT RPM. There are other elements that will affect the design like your drum size and you core size.

Generally, you should be aiming to around 30RPM, but a slight reduction possibility is quite useful.. My motor is an electric motor running range of 3V to 24V. At 24V the motor spins 500rpm. I run it at about 5V(!) and it does a fabulous job. For speed control I just increase or decrease the voltage using a simple bench power supply.

I don't have pictures of the design. Generally, I use a direct drive - meaning, my motor is connected DIRECTLY to the drum. The drum has a hollow pin at the bottom that fits right onto the shaft. I pride myself as this is one of the smallest designed I've seen and you can actually stand the whole machine of a table and move it around with no effort.

There are minus sides. The main one is that the motor is very close to drum. While the drum is very big and the motor is not visible under it, it could be that some of the composition will find it way onto the motor. I use some extra casing for the motor and tunnel the ventilation using a pvc pipe - but other then that - it works very well.

I have just started making my new Star Roller..here is a plan of the roller..


As you can see its a very simple design a variable speed motor drives a a drive wheel..The drive wheel is connected to a Stock Pot.The Drive Shaft is a rubber coated and is offset by 1/8 of an inch..When this spins it turns the Drive wheel/Stock pot ...Because its offset it adds vibration to the stock pot...Good or What?

I have bought a 12" Stock Pot .. From Ebay i have got a Motor + Variable speed controller..I have to cut a 14" Drive wheel from either MDF or Plywood.. i have a few bearings and a few pieces of angle iron...

Hopefully i should have built it for the end of the week...

Has any body else made a similar star roller?..Any tips on its construction?..
