I have decided to bite the bullet and send off for my A&K to enable me to safely acquire and store black powder for use in experimental pyrotechnics.

My question is which form do I fill in? My local force is Greater Manchester Police and they list all the above on their website.

I think I just need to fill in the COER 1 form for a grant/approval for A&K but wanted to check first.

Thanks

COER1, I sent mine off to the same force 3 weeks ago and not heard a thing yet. It's probably too soon but knowing my luck it'll have got lost in the post!

Going to give a guy a ring on Wednesday to clarify the cost for an A&K as they have told me it depends on the amount being stored. Ideally I wouldn't want more than 2-3kg at any time in my residence anyway so hopefully it isn't too dear.

Do you mind me asking if you paid a fee and how much it was?

Its free and if you store at home then you will be able to store 10-15kg depending what else you might be storing.

That is great then. Do you just send the forms into the normal licensing unit for firearms and wait to hear back?

That's what I did but probably should of sent it recorded as I have no way of knowing if it arrived. If you do it and hear back before me then lets hear about it and I'll make a phone call. My other half who deals with government bodies tells me its more likely to be months than weeks which was also confirmed by someone I know with  a shotgun licence that is dealt with by the same office. If I had confirmation it was being processed I would be happier but time will tell.

I will keep you updated then. I used to work for GMP so I know how it can be internally with the amount of admin.
