Hi

For anyone else on here who is into fireworks how did you get into fireworks ?

For me its cause my Mum and Dad had them alot when I was a kid and they were always getting them and having displays so it got me into it all.

The thing that gets me is from about 3 I was always watching fireworks even the loud stuff yet people I know who are my age 19-20 whatever are still petrified when they here a firework cause their parents have drummed an over the top fear into them.

I think he means that if he gets his hands on something that burns he will try and make a firework from that.

I got into fireworks by the yearly 5th of November displays i was taken to as a child. From there as i used to live in Austria i could get my hands onto some decent fireworks and used to make displays with my dad.

Loved the colours, the bangs, the effects. But burning down buyed fireworks isn?t that funny. So I began to build my own firework devices.

This way everything started :P

I always liked fire and chemistry, even when i was a kid. When i was like 6,7,8.. we were poor and i never really got anything cool besides sparklers nor even saw anything except the 4th of july stuff at the parks. When i was 12 tho i ran across this drugstore that sold fountains. I never saw a big fountain and i was floored. Next year i went to my aunts along with 20 or so other family members some of whom were/are hicks. i was 13 jumping up and down and screaming like a school girl. i was hooked. At 14 my granparents took me on a trip up to maine. In new hamshire fireworks are legal. New Hampshire happens to be on the way to maine. that was the best 80 dollars i ever spent in my life up till then. But still no mortars. The next year was just fountains except for a smoke charge i made from reading George Weingarts "Pyrotechnics". It was really nice for about 3 seconds but then the end blew off and I had a flare with a 1 foot flame. i decided that making the stuff wasnt a good idea and dropped it. It wasnt until my mom was gracious enough to introduce me to a co-worker who had a large trunk(if you get the hint) that i used a mortar. That was a very good year. As my friends recall(no parents that year i was 17!!) drunk people had the sence to run. It was pretty much the same way until last year when i finally got back into making the stuff with the encouragement of my friend. i made 5 shells. 4 star and one filled with bp and flash. The first 4 didnt do anything. by this time i had no faith in my skills so i figured why not light the boomer. 3 Minutes and 2 feet of visco later i was a different person. i belive i shed a tear. A few of my friends shed a crap in their pants. You could have sworn me and my friend won the super bowl. Hysteria was the mood. I made the sky light up during the day only to be topped by making the sun come up at 10 pm with a flare. ya. I think i might take out life insurance this year.

I was young very young around 5-7 years old and two of my *censored* used to get truckloads of fireworks each year. Both legal and illegal. At the time I didnt know I just loved watching the colors and hearing the booms. Yes, it is true once you smell that smoke you are never the same.

Anyway always had fireworks for the 4th and they always intrigued me. Sadly though some1 showed me a site on how to make Flash and as you Brits like to call em bangers. Got started in that and luckily I am going into pyrotechnics and not just Flash making. So its going to be using Flash along with colors to entertain. Hopefully my lab will be more than my shed and I can share vids and pics with you guys once I get started.
