ive seen it and on eBay for a few years now, keep meaning to buy some

it reminds me of my old chemistry teacher, he took  us outside one sunny afternoon  into the middle of the playing fields ,and dropped a sizable chunk of said item into a metal jar of water ...

then he placed a peace of card over the can to our bemusement we watched on..

"THEN BOOM" we saw the card rise up at substantial speed (lol) with a tall column of smoke, turning back towards the school one could see lots and lots of faces at the windows :), ahh those were the days

needless to say I was pretty interested in chemistry from that day on

When I did A Level Chemistry, I once cracked a ceramic sink in the lab by  adding a large chunk of potassium to running water !

This was in the good old days (30 years ago) before H&S, when 6th form pupils were trusted to have full access to the stores to conduct their experiments.

I did some GCSE Chemistry tutoring a few years ago at my old school for kids who were finding it especially hard and they let me toss a chunk of Potassium into the sink! Suffice to say it was enough to keep them interested in Group 1 metals for the rest of the afternoon... I also gave them a treat at the end of the year for being good students by making up a couple of grams of Black Powder and igniting it in the fume cupboard! And who said school science lessons aren't tonnes of fun...
