I've got 10 kilo of 12.5mm and 2 kilo of 22mm lead balls. So if anyone that is going to the AGM next week wants any, I can bring some along, I'll do it for £6 a kilo, that's half the price I normally do it for, for catapult ammo. I've still got the puck presses and rocket tooling, I think Roger wants one of the puck presses. I'm also tempted to bring my 6 tonne hydraulic press just to see if anyone is interested, it's one heavy mother.

Are they hardened or are they pure lead?

They are recycled roof lead, so they probably have some antimony in them, but I haven't added anything. If it's any consolation, I have used the same lead balls for around five years.

If it helps all the media I've ever sold or used was the same reused lead flashing, it seems slightly hardened but I'd not dare say what antimony content it may have and mines lasted years and years with heavy use.

I tend to find maybe 1 in 20 fails quite early on and turns into an egg but if they make it past tgat point they go on forever

I think some of the early mouldings with a sometimes slightly cold mould results in unknown hollows in the ball but you can't know until they roll a while so I try to mill them alone for an hour or two before selling them and they round off nicely :-)

Yes, likewise, and lead pipe.

I actually quite enjoy casting them on a nice evening in the garden.

I just thought I might try some hardened ones to see if it stopped everything going grey.

I've actually cast another six kilo since putting my first post up. I've definitely had enough.
