Hi all.
I'm brand new to the forum and also to pyrotechnics. I personally think it's a great idea having a Midlands meet up, a sort of pyro chit chat evening. As I am new to all this I would love to meet ppl with more experience rather that just reading about it on the net. Maybe we could even sort out a sort of competition where you build your device from a few category and everyone scores each other. Maybe even charge a small fee for entry into the compition so you could have prizes? What u think guys?

Welcome Sir,

Really nice to see a new bit of interest in the community, apologies for not saying hi sooner.

Life is busy!

My own interests are more chemistry than Pyro but inevitably we are kind of all in the same boat.

I quite often travel long distances to meet folk so perhaps later on in the year I may be up your way?

There is a very active community and although this forum is quiet, everyone is still very much out there and I am sure the cycle of time will see us all together again.

Have fun and stay safe. Rob.

Hi Rob, nice to hear from you.

My interest also lies in the chemistry side of the hobby, although iv not got any sort of qualifications or background in the subject. I also like building things and with my true love for fireworks coupled together makes this a perfect hobby for me.

I always thought I was out right illegal to do this untill now which is why iv not really looked into it before, just for the last few years iv been watching videos and reading countless forum pages of what other people have achieved.

To be honest I think I'm going to be restricted on what I can learn about.
It's not the EPP licence that worries me but I just don't think I'm going to convince an ELO that i actually need an A&K, especially with me having no background he's not going to think I am competent enough to handle the formulas needed safely :-(. Still, I'm sure there's plenty left I can do.

As for a meet up, I would love a chance to meet some like minded people with more experience than me to have a chat with instead of just reading about it.

Looking back through old posts, it seems very sad that this forum was very much alive and kicking, and that was a time when it was illegal lol, but like you say, I hope it can be like that again one day.

Take care,
Neil.

By starting this thread, I wasn't  trying to be funny or clever - only highlighting the extreme lack of activity.

Personally I have done very little pyro over the last year or so. Mostly down to house move and associated work involved with getting the house as we would like it. So the only thing that I could contribute, was to suggest that I think that the forum is very quiet (to be polite). At least it has provoked some activity.

Hi Vic. The guide I wrote is still hosted on the interesting Wichitabuggywhip.com site.

The direct link is here - http://www.wichitabu...ingcracker.html

Rip Rap,I have been having a look at the main website you linked up and it is brilliant. The article on Benzolift is really good. Never heard of that comp before but it looks effective.
