Dear UKPS Member/Former Member/Forum user,

I’m writing to you as the new chair of the UK Pyrotechnics Society, to ask you for help in keeping the society running, as we believe that the UKPS still has an important role to play in supporting the amateur pyro-chemistry community.

I have stepped up from the post of vice-chair to that of chair, now that Phil Cooper has decided to step down due to the pressure of work and for similar reasons Vic Jones has also stepped down as membership secretary – We thank Phil and Vic for both their support of the UKPS.

The few committee members who are currently battling to keep the society going, cannot cope and we need some more people to step forward to join the committee, share the workload and stabilise the society for the good of the pyro community.

We desperately need a new membership secretary and a few trustworthy individuals to become company directors, so we can maintain the critical mass of people and roles needed to keep the society running properly.  Any offer of help, even if it is outside of the two roles mentioned would be gratefully received.

The role of membership secretary was quite time consuming, but plans are being put in place to simplify the role – More about this and the future of the UKPS will be covered in a second communication once we’ve received some feedback from this one, as I wanted to keep this plea for help short and to the point.

The UKPS will have to be closed down if we are unable to recruit the extra assistance required, we simply cannot continue without help.

If you want to keep the UK Pyrotechnics Society going, please get in contact with me – either PM through the forum (Pyromancer) or e-mail me on Steve@LiveActionFX.Com.

Regards

Stephen Miller CEng MIExpE

Chair – UK Pyrotechnics Society

Wish I could help guys unfortunately I up to me neck in in hardware orders so much so I have to purchase a new lathe to try and push through orders.

I have to say the community is very much alive across the EU and further over the pond.

Just to add looking at another post regarding resale of precursors I do abide to the rules and to be honest with you all there is very little profit in it to make it profitable for me anyway.

Good luck in keeping the UKPS alive.

That's quite alright Ken, you're doing a good job where you are and have enough stuff of your own to look after. I'm sure you will be getting orders for tooling in the future.

possibly see you at a meet sometime.

Thank you for taking up the role Steve.

Being down in deepest darkest Devon, i feel out of the loop with some of the activities.  I also do shift work, which has a huge impact on my family life, let alone hobbies.  I'd like to support the group, although I don't make, I have always had an interest in pyro.   Maybe I can help in a lesser way.

Well,I volunteered but alas,as usual,no response from the Chair so that is an end to it as far as I am concerned. You state that help is urgently required but cannot be bothered to to respond to offers of help. Tough ****

David as a slight offer of a reason, until only a few days ago I’m unsure who has been collecting the Chairman emails. My pc came up only three days ago with the inability to log in to the pop3 account as Steve had taken over the address. There is a significant chance he either hadn’t received it or hasn’t had chance to wade through what may be a good collection by now.

David, there has been a change of email going on and those who 'got through' are gladly recieved.
It would pay to make a number of us aware at the moment as there are alot of changes taking place.
You certainly have not been ignored mate.
It is not easy at the moment.

I would be very sad to see the society discontinue. It seems a very active forum with lots of knowledgeable users. Wishing you all the best of luck and continued success. The only constant is change...

Great to chat today.

I see good signs for the future of this group and hope to play a small part in it.

I am honestly feeling very positive about the UKPS and would love to see it go forward.

And I most certainly would too. Wouldn`t it be a good idea for someone to share with others what this new positivity is? It could start a new impetus.
