I remember them saying that the renewal process should be started at least 12 weeks before the permit expires implying that it can take this long to process a renewal, however, my last renewal took about 8 weeks to receiving the new permit. First applications may take a bit longer, simply, due to the fact that it's the first time they've processed an application from you.

The dates you mention indicate about 9 weeks since you sent your stuff in and, of course, the Home Office will have taken time off over Xmas. no doubt they'll plead CV19 as an excuse too.

I have found that they do reply to E-mails sent to the address on the application form so I'd guess that things are just moving slowly for you. All I can say is be patient I'm sure you'll hear soon.

Hope that helps!

At a guess minor tasks have been sidelined for the duration of the covid panic. Things will assume a new normal when there have been no new cases for a month. I've lost two immediate colleagues to covid, I don't see reason why other people should have all survived. Just accept that one or more names in your phone will not survive.
