Ok I am launching my business this week and need to be able to make some teabags. I wondered if anyone from here could give a clue to if the supermarket teabags just use ordinary science filter paper.

Does anyone have any insight?

If I could delete this topic I would. I have already found my answer.

This is a very random topic!
the tea bags seem to be a much thinner paper that most filter paper. Perhaps the very thin stuff would work, but be a bit expensive

I have found a supplier of empty tea bags :) I think I am going to have to have my ingredients sent off to a tea manufactuer though. I lack the ability to heatseal the bags. Unless customers don't mind selotape.

Buy a heat sealer :D

I assume it is the same sort of thing used to seal bags of milk (they had a goat - and a bottle sealer cost tons!)

Also - what temperature is needed to seal the bags. The ones on ebay may be too hot, or too cold ;)
