Hi i test fired a few round stars last night and found that some failed to ignite :( ..
I made a simple star mine using a 75mm Dia Cardboard tube 18" long. placed about 50 stars in a paper tissue sprinkled a bit of FFFG on them then placed it in the Mortar used about 3 oz of FFG for lift. .

.The mortar went off with a satisfying Crack and shot the stars to about 60 or 70 feet ,made 3 firings with different batch of stars..When i got back and watched the video i counted how many stars had ignited and i counted about 20 :( thats about 30 that failed to ignite very poor... Now i was thinking about counting the stars if there was a program or adobe photoshop plugin that can count the stars for me?... has anyone come across this type of program?.. that way when i video fireworks i could digitize them and anazlye the the footage .. im sure i have read some where thats this can be done? Anyone got any info?

Unless you have a high-end system, with hi-res camera etc etc I'd say very very hard. Even my Organic Image Capture Devices (eyes) can get confused when trying to count things like lit stars, especially when moving.
75 : 15: 10... Enough said!

sounds like a facial recognition program but for stars :D

wouldnt it be easier and not to mention cheaper to just pause the screen on the tv and take a dry erase maker and mark out the ones you just counted as you are counting.

sounds like a rube goldberg thing :)
