Would anyone be interested in any mortar tubes?? I can get loads* of thick 2 inch (inside diameter) by about 600mm long. If you pay the postage you can have them for free. They are stretch wrap tubes from work, very tough, free to good home.

Hi Richard, The walls are not UNDER 5-6mm thick. I dont have one with me at the moment but I shall get one tomorrow and size it up. Its about as thick as the wall on carpet roll tubes if that helps.
I will send you one free if you want so you can check that they're safe to use.

I am going to send a tube to creepin pyro so it can be checked (I have NO experience with shells/mortars etc)

It would be great if the outcome could be posted here, meanwhile I shall nag work and hoard them.

Marcus.

EDIT: if they are no good they will make good storage for stuff or more interestingly they burn really intensely ^_^

I'd like a few if pos. Even if they are not suitable for mortar tubes, they could be cut down and used as mine tubes, no? i havent done those yet, but i imagine the pressure inside the tube with a mine is far less than a shell. Am i right?

OK, Info on these tubes:
Length: 530mm
Inside diameter: 51-52mm (might be a tight 2")
Tube wall thickness: Minimum 5mm, mostly 6mm with some up to 8mm.
Average weight: 350 grams.
They are white on the outside.

Postage (royal mail)
1 tube first class = ?1.33, 2 tubes = ?2.73 (ask if you want more sent.)
Can only send 1 tube (might be able to get 2 in) per package by second class (weight limit) = ?1.14 for 1 or ?2.12 for 2.

Most recommended is Standard parcels service:
Up to 1kg ?3.46
1.5kg = ?4.45
2kg = ?4.78

Go here: www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1;jsessionid=1JQARZLHCCTPICRAZRWEOSQKEDGGGQ2K?catId=400023&mediaId=9300094 for prices.

The tubes are FREE, Im not making anything out of this, Its just a terrible waste throwing these away. If you pay postage their yours.

ProfHawking, you can have a few if you like. The more experienced members here may be able to answer your questions. Check the postage as above and we can arrange postage etc.

Thanks guys

Marcus.

CreepinPyro: your tube is in the post, second class. Should be with you end of next week. It only cost 94p, must have been a tad under 350grams :) .

Marcus.

EDIT: If anyone wants any pics then let me know ;)

Tubes are now ?1+post <_< (ask)

Marcus.

Those of you who already asked for some: they are still free.

Sorry about this.

I have found a way to cut these pipes well, we have a bandsaw that cuts through them like a knife through butter. So if anyone wants some 2 inch pipe in any length (up to 500mm) for mines, cakes etc then please let me know.

Thankyou.
