Usually yes as I understand it, but transport and storage etc. apparently cause problems. The main hitch seems to be local state laws. Passfire.com is good for Q&As on all this stuff but I'm fairly sure their advice would be to temporarily join a local club. -

Having often driven down this bit of the M5 it's a bit of an unpredictable road. I've encountered sudden rain squalls and localised dense fog that's scary enough on it's own.
The risk assesments in writing should have included the motorway and the weather. Hopefully the organisers have a good paper trail in place.
The witnesses though described 'black smoke' not white so I doubt it was the fireworks alone. Perhaps a combination of rare circumstances leading to a chain of events... Unfortunately that's the usual cause of a tragedy. -
In Topic: pyrogen, alternative to chlorate / antimony sulphide ?

I'm still intrigued by the pyrogen formula that Dave dug up for the Czech marketed / Chinese made e-matches:

This seems to approximate to:
Potassium Perchlorate: 2
Calcium silicide: 1
Antimony sulfide 1
Collodion: + 6%
It does seem worth investigating further. -
In Topic: short delays
16 May 2011 - 06:18 AM
Hi Trevor, I had some fun last night testing 5 - 7mm lengths of Monetti PL10 foil taped to quickmatch at each end - it seems sufficiently well made that it doesn't fall apart in short segments. While this did produce rough half second delays, the timing wasn't all that great (but then neither was my accuracy in assembling them).
I seem to recall a method using partly drilled out spolettes for short delays so that might be another option to explore. -
In Topic: 2011 AGM - Meal afterwards

Phill C and I did run around the site trying to encourage people to have the hot food provided by the venue. The display was later this time, partly due to the constraints imposed on us but also due to the date and British Summer Time. Last year we were clear of the site by 9pm so a sit down meal was more practical.
Needless to say, we'll look at this again before next year.
