Hello Iv'e been trying to get Tom perigrin's book "Intoductory to practical pyrotechnics" It seems Skylighter is the best place but on their site it says shipping to the US only and their checkout is only for US postal codes, does anyone know an easy way to get hold of this book for not a small fortune??

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you tried AFN? If its not listed it might be worth emailing Jack Drewes. If had a few things off them, they are quick and cheaper than skylighter.

I asked Skylighter a few months ago if they would send me a copy of that book as it was only a book (a small one at that!) and there would be no need for any sort of 'difficult' shipping but their reply was (pretty much word for word) "we don't ship internationally". I guess that's a 'No' then! However I'm sure they have their reasons.

If you do find a source could you let me know please? Off to check AFN now...

They no longer ship to the UK at all.

Very short sighted, I thought companies were in business to make money...

Skylighter will not send anything at all outside of USA. -period. AFN sells the book but in my opinion (I have the book) its not worth the money. A subscription to Passfire forum would be money better spent.
The book is somewhat outdated now and also contains some unsafe and inaccurate information eg. making CIA black powder in a glass coffee urn!!!!!

ANY reference that mentions the CIA method now is seriously behind the times! There are simpler and quicker and cheaper methods available for making BP more safely, and with better performance. As the CIA was founded post OSS post WWII I never understood why this method was ever needed by them or even attributed to them as for all the period of their existence better things have been available and in reality shipped where ever there was trouble.

Arthur I personally do not agree about the CIA method, I have just two days ago made a batch of black powder using CIA method and its mega fast without any ball milling at all. As long as you do it outside to me is pretty darn cheap. I dont like the idea of milling a live comp in an enclosed barrel packed full of metal balls that if all went wrong would fly everywhere. Where as I can cook the damped comp and feel more safer in the fact that it wont burn, just keep the temp right and keep stirring. A bit of manual labour doesn't hurt anyone really!

P.S. dont use the original formula if using CIA method or you get inferior results!
