Hey Pyrotechnics alike, i don't know if this was of any interest to any one but I'm sure someone will stumble across upon it someday,
but I've found some new guys online selling 1-12 inch shells extremely cheaply, and the tubes as well cheap, also pre built racks if you are interested (email me about racks). One problem is the fact its based in china, now I've inquired to these guys but the shipping is a bit much for "express", but I've been talking to them and they say that they can send a container for cheap, so i was wondering if anyone would like to make a big order and everyone chip in, buy your shells and what not, and get it sent at once

the guys link is www.huiheworld.com but for a simple version here is the pdf's that they sent me attached

i hope if we get a load of guys together we can get some nice stuff cheap :), now im not trying to put anyone selling shells already out of buisness so sorry, i will take this down if you are not happy about it.

Thanks
George :)

Not too bad if you have a spare 10 grand kicking around for a container load and shipping, oh and the import duty on top.
Phew that was close.

Yup. Too bad the Chinese only ship huge quantities or none at all.

You can get smaller quantities from these people. The problem lies with the shipping cost for small orders. They generally have to go by air as you need to use shipping agents for transport by sea which means all sorts of issues regarding costs in the port which can cost as much as dealing with a full container.

so once they have been transported by air the cost becomes ridiculous.

I had a 40kg package that ended up costing me £200 in customs clearance (excluding VAT and duty)

I've been looking to either stock or import shell hemis to sell through Inoxia. If I were to buy, what sizes would people be most interested in, and with or without fuse holes?

3", 4", 6" i would say are the most popular without holes (as some people need different hole sizes or more than 1 hole.

out of all of the above the most important thing is price iv brought 4" hems for 35p (per 2 hems) but iv seen people selling for £1.20 (per 2 hems)

lol no, i was talking to the guy who sells the shells and tubes, he said if you have an import export license (which i can get easily btw so no problem) then the shipping would be 300USD for 1 container, which is nothing if we get 10 guys or so doing one big order, especially seen as the tubes are very cheap and so are hemi's im sure 10 guys would be happy to buy a carton or so of shells, i mean 600 3inch shells is a lot of 26 dollars, and also 300 4 inch shells for 24 dollars is still very cheap :), id be happy to chip in, i just want to consider the costs if we all chipped in

I always thought the ukps should do a once a year thing (where the ukps looks after the money) where we have a container and everyone can order tools, tubes, hems ect from china and have it shipped over. shipping via containers from china don't cost that much as long as there's no explosive material in it.

Remember that the price is factory gate in Liuyang. SO you have internal transport in China to pay and then international shipping, then import duties and taxes in your country, then you have to do the break out one box here one there. Also you usually pay the Chinese up front and the product is yours and at your risk from the factory gate in China.

Most of the added costs are due to real experiences that seasoned importers have.

all the hemispheres are a good idea, its the trouble with racks and tubes, because they take up lot of space and weight the container down, as containers are priced on weight. but im sure we can arrange this we just need some man-force to get the things turning :), ignites seems very cheap aswell :), im happy if anyone wants to par up get a big bulk order with me, and we put the remaining hemis on a website for sale or distribution at sale price...please send all the things you want to me by inbox so i can work out how many people are intrested and also what people want ordering

much appreciated
George :)

Right I have done some quick math on the costs. I reckon to fill a 20ft container it will cost about $12000, Vat will be $2100, Customs Clearance will be $400 (assuming it does not get x-rayed), Shipping will be about $2500 - $4000, I am not sure what the duty will be, but it will be at least 2.5% so about $300, Road transport at this end will be about £700 ($1100), You will need somewhere to take delivery. Then there is the cost of the container, so you will have to unload that and send it back....... I am sure I have not got all of the costs, but it looks like there will be a total of at least $19000 all in so it will double the headline prices. Do you have a shipping agent? here and in china? Do you have insurance?

Not saying it is not doable. On the face of it there is allot of profit in it. However how big do you think the UK market is for these things? If you filled a container (the only way to keep the unit price down)then I guess you will have it knocking around for more than 10 years. That is a long time to have that amount of money tied up in cardboard.

Good luck

The prices quoted above are FOB, so the risk is from the ship. It should be possible to negotiate on payment terms.

So are you going to assume all of the responsibilty for the $19000 or so handed over for all of the costs George? I hope you have good insurance.

the best bet is to go in with a someone who already ships and go's to china a lot each year like cat4 wholesalers, that way a smaller amount of hems would not be a problem. if they are already shipping a container full of tubes ect 4/5 boxes full of hems would be be nothing for a bit of cash in hand.
