Here are a few photos of a drying cabinet i built. I also find there is no need for an additional heat source such as a light bulb since the dehumidifier heats the air in the box up to about 40 deg C.

Nice job on the workmanship - it looks more like a piece of furniture than mine does.

I made a single column cabinet loosely based on the Passfire design. The part I didn't like was making the screens - it took as long to make them as it did for the box. It uses a 'personal' dehumidifier which doesn't generate much heat so I use a light bulb. I built a duct on top and vented it with a computer fan down to the dehumidifier. You can just see it in the picture below.

I think the main drawback to mine is the bare lightbulb at the bottom. It doesn't get hot enough to ignite anything but it does get hot and I think I need to put a screen around it (or relocate it to the duct somehow).

The reason it is slightly elevated is that I built it on rollers so it can be moved around the shop.

The dryer does work very well - it gets to just over 100 degrees F and down to about 25% humidity.

I used a lampshade holder to suspend a shield above the lamp. The holder has a convenient hinge in it to allow easy removal of the bulb. The shield is a piece of wood with a thin aluminium sheet attached to the underside to afford some protection to the wood from the heat of the bulb.

Here's a couple of photos: -

Very clever! I'll steal part of that idea if you don't mind. That is much more elegant than what I was planning.
