Can anyone supply information regarding H3.

Principal questions are:

1. How safe is it to make?
2. How safe is it to store?
3. Any important safety issues with it?

I've gathered that H3 is a better lifting powder that BP for shells and the like.

I'd like to know it's drawbacks before making some.

Obviously I know about the importance of S being absent but I'm still concerned about the sensitivity of such mixes.

Wow! So many new people! I've not been on here in ages :o

Anyways, H3.- It's a whole lot less hastle making it than BP (no milling etc) thats for sure but it is impact sensitive I've found (the old hammer/concrete trick), but you really do have to hit it hard.

I think when making it it should be treated in most respects like flash, I mean limit static and use suitable mixing methods etc. It is way way more sensitive to heat/sparks then bp and is actually easier to light than flash powder ive found.

I've stored small amounts for a few months in sealed containers with no apparent problems, but that was only small amounts (I dont like having a lot of 'stuff' hanging around)

I think the best thing to do is go ahead and make some ( *looks at date of post* which by now you probably have done) and see what you think of it. I tend to use it simply because its less hastle to make than BP.

Hope that helped or something.
