The sale of Fireworks could be banned for most of the year following complaints about their growing use.
A new law would allow them to be sold only for a month around the traditional Novermber 5th Celebrations. Noise restrictions and an 11pm curfew would also be introduced.
Britions spend 70 Millon a year on fireworks for occasions including New Years eve and weddings and birthday celebrations.
Local authorities are flooded with complaints about noise, and animal welfare groups say pets are terrified. Latest figures show a 63% increase in chrildren being injured.
The private members bill promoted by Labour back bencher Bill Tynan, is believed to have Government support and could become law before next bonfire night.
