Just a quickie what's it mean when a topic is pinned ?

One of two things

It could mean that the post and/or the related replies are of *such* good quality, and the information of *such* value that the forum admin team believe that it should be pinned to the top of the forum list for all to see in perpetuity. As opposed to moving down the forum list as other posts are made.

A pinned post due to quality is a rare and valued event. Few have made posts of this nature.

The other option is that the post is made so often that one pinned topic is made and all subsequent posts of the same subject area are merged into it.
