:) I also remember these;good especially the bigger fireworks they sold, and it was a sad day when Standard bought them out and sacked all the workers, closed the Sanquhar factory and moved production to Huddersfield, the end of quality Scottish fireworks!!! :( :( :( :(

:) ...then they went Chinese with Brock's International (Vulcan stuff with a Brock's label on it), then it died, came back with a second product range and is now dead consigned to history! :)

Their display range was quite good. One of these days I want to try a St. Andrews cross, or a Prince of Wales Feathers, or perhaps a devil amongst the tailors.

Standard (or it's owners Black Cat) don't manufacture setpieces etc no more which is a shame! However, when Standard took over Brock's the effects of the fireworks almost matched each other, no individuality was evident between the two brands and effects weren't that much different from one another. Also they gave up manufacturing roman candle bouquets/setpieces etc, as few people were buying them because they were so expensive, that's another reason. PS The effects of the Standard setpieces/bouquets etc were quite brilliant! If they had carried on making the setpieces/bouquets etc under Chinese manufacture, then it would be quite opportune to reduce the prices of those (being cheaper as they are) and sell them at those lower prices. :( :(

Wow that brings back memories, a devil amongst the tailors, I had one once.
If my addled memory serves me well, it was a ground mine with four roman candles surrounding it, I do recall saving up for it as they were expensive.

It was brilliant, especially as we only had a small suburban garden, (far too small for a firework of that size), throwing variously coloured stars before a decently powerful lift charge covered the sky with sparks.

That was about 23 years ago, :o

Oh no, surely not that long ago. :o :(
