Thought this might be of interest to someone. I'm tempted to bid myself....

Would be nice to have a look at those old formulas.

WOW - someone's just won the notebook for ?255!

There seems to be a good market for this kind of nostalgia!

Now just need to persuade the winning bidder that they should share all the old formulas with us.....

I was going to bid for it myself, but I was amazed how high the bidding went. It would be nice to somehow reproduce the contents of the notepad for us all to see. I have contacted the winning bidder to see what can be arranged.

I still can't believe people are paying ?250+ for what is basically a computer in a slightly smaller case that can do nothing but play games. And to top it off, it'll have gone down to about ?120 in six months.

watching, but not bidding. Apparently there are loads avaliable on the continent. Just pop over to france, its probably less hassle & cheaper than paying through the nose.

That notebook is very interesting. I wonder whos it was?

Several people from my dormitory waited outside the local electronics store overnight to get one. There were 4 of them, and they each bought one. I believe they pedalled them over campus and made a decent amount of money. They kept 2, and sold two. I think they pretty much got their's for free, then still had money left over for a nice weekend of partying. They were going for 2 to 3x the list price on ebay the last time I checked. Around $800 to $1000. Thats 683 to 854 euros.

half tempted to put a listing on e-bay for Adam's "Big Stick".. bet some nutter would bid on it.
Guess I could send the winning bidder a log on for the forum where Adam could slap him around with the "Big Stick"
As for web addy's and e-mail addy's.. some reasonable money changing hands for them.. even things like xbox360seller@hotmail.com.. hotmail was free last time I checked yet someone just paid ?400 odd for the addy.
Hmm.. wonder what I could get for a half raving lunatic forum member :P

Hey Richard... can I have xbox360@ukrocketry.co.uk mail addy :) bet I could sell it ..lol

Some 19 year old guy sold his virginity on eBay for nearly a million dollars, some texas woman won it - I think it turned out she was about 60.

Yes it is made to play games, but the price is low if you look what technology is inside.

Custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU
? Three symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each
? Two hardware threads per core; six hardware threads total
? VMX-128 vector unit per core; three total
? 128 VMX-128 registers per hardware thread
? 1 MB L2 cache

CPU Game Math Performance
? 9 billion dot product operations per second

Custom ATI Graphics Processor
? 500MHz processor
? 10 MB of embedded DRAM
? 48-way parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines
? Unified shader architecture

You won't get this kind of performance for this kind of money on the PC.
Microsoft actually sells every console with loss.
And ofcourse prices will drop when the revolution and ps3 will come out, that's normal, early adopters will pay premium but that's normal in this kind of market
