You can hear that clearly in the videos :D Nice stuff anyway. The cheapest stars can be more fun than expensive perc ones etc sometimes!

I have not tried any perchlorate stars yet, but I agree that simple charchoal stars are beautyful. So far they are my only option too as all chemichals I have is agriculture grade KNO3 and sulfur. Tigertail stars slowly drifting down from a rocket is very nice!

By the way, the guy laughing like mad in the videos are my dad :D

Well, newyearseve pyro was a succes.
In recent tests some of the rockets exploded on the launchpad, so I wasn't confident that all rockets would work properly, I decided to make shells instead.

All shells were launced from fibreglass tubes with 20 gram granulated BP that was ballmilled for 3 hours.
Liftcups were easily made from paper drinking cups, the quickmatch was commercial chinese(5 strands).
For the delay I used spolettes with about 2 sec. delay, the quickmatch was connected to the spolettes directly to ensure ignition.
I used 5:1 Bp/ricehulls and 2 grams of perchlorate/benzoate wistle as breakcharge.
All shells functioned perfectly and exploded at apogee.
The blue, purple, gold streamer and silver flitter stars all worked exelent, the ruby red and emerald green stars were a disapointment, not the nice deep colours I expected.
Maybe it was the magnalium I used it may have been to coarce.

All in all it was a very succesfull newyears eve.

Spent NYE in Newcastle rigging the Civic centre with Pyro, Candles, mines and cakes on the centre roof, some more candles and mines on the bell tower and two aerial sites. Also four pidgeons along the front of the building. Of course I didn't see much of the display as I was button pushing, but one highlight was a 16 hit Blue mine chase along the front of the building which led onto another 360 degree mine chase on the bell tower immediatly followed by a lift of 16 crackle mines. Luckily it was an early show, so we were derigged by 11PM and in the bar by Midnight
If it looks like it's coming towards you, it probably is!
