Iam currently using grass seed which is working very well, but would like the rice hulls,

Well you could try using corn hulls.Work almost the same as the rice, you just take a corn cob and whit a knife rub of it some hulls and the rest you know.Posted Image

Bill Oddie to the rescue :D

Oat husks!

I haven't actually tried these out myself yet, but they come highly recommended by JamesH as a rice hull substitute.

"All Oats Products are used for Budgerigars, Parrots and Parakeets. Soaked they are particularly useful as a Rearing Food"

or for us , 'Rearing food for baby shells to make them into fully grown adult shells!!

hmm, Do you think Bp coated meal worms would work??

That's just cruel, and you could have problems drying them out if you applied the BP to the worms live.

I'm not sure about the home brewing laws in the UK, but a common source for rice hulls in the US is homebrew shops. They are used in some step of wine making. Extremely cheap. 25 kilo bags for about $11 US.
