What is magnesium sulfate used for in pyrotechnics. It was in a list on another post on this forum that was apparently the interesting list off Garden Direct. I saw it at the local garden centre and it looks like its fairly cheap.

It could be used as a high-temperature oxidiser, but there isnt much use for it apart from that, except for medicine, because it's acually Epsom Salts

Thanks. I knew that it was epsom salts. Would it burn as brightly as magnesium and is it difficult to ignite?

I recall purchasing a large box of Epsom salts to use in smoke b**bs when I was at school. It was completely misguided as the damn thisng wouldn't light. The best thing to do with it is what it says on the packet. If you need magnesium, try ordering it from Labpakchemicals.co.uk
