Did anyone see the article in the Sunday Times saying how these are Killing Cows???!

Will be interesting to see how long until they are banned now.

No? Do you have a link?

I tried a basic search of their website, but all I came up with was ADVERTS to buy sky lanterns!

OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

Yeah....Thanks to the media. Where are these cows heading anyway, McD's, saves someone a job!

I mean come on!!! I don't really watch the news (only for the weather, and thats hit and miss) or read papers, for the simple fact that it's BS. It's one persons view which is subjective, besides the point they want to keep there job, so what do you do; 1- take 100% of the facts, 2- realize it's not going to put the fear of god into poeple, 3- make it up and make sure It does!!, and as a brucey bonus, keep my job!

Sorry for the rant

The issue is that the metal wire gets caught up in hay makng machinery, and then finds it was as metal shards into winter food.

Basically, the issue is potentially harmful litter.

Yep, all things considered, this could mean that the days of Sky Lanterns are numbered.

In the "here and now" it might also mean some unfriendly opposition to people who are using Sky Lanterns, if public opinion is turned against them.

The other issued raised by articles (there are several from a basic web search) is that the lanterns can come down in front of cars, which is a real, if very unlikley, hazard.
