Just got a gardendirect catalogue in the post. As well as the 2kg Pot. Nitrate for ?7 they also sell "Chilean Pot. Nitrate" at ?3-50 for 3kg. This is probably Pot. Nitrate made from "Chile Saltpetre" which is Sodium Nitrate, but is it useable for pyro or is there likely to be some unconverted Sodium Nitrate in there which will make it hygroscopic?

The Sodium Nitrate they sell is sold as 'Nitrate of soda' or something. As for the 'Chilean', dont buy it in place of the proper KNO3 they sell, as it will be way too impure.

It can take up to 5 weeks to arrive.
The trick is to save 100 g or so of your last order in a safe place - in case of emergencies like this.
Might not help now though.
