I am looking for some free software to capture still from my videos and other pyro videos. Can anyone suggest one?

VLC video player takes good still shots, it's free open source, and available for windows or linux.

I´d rather use Virtual DUb for that purpose. You can go back and forth in one
frame steps to get the best frame of the scene you want to capture.

Video PLAYERS are way to inaccurate to search for exactly one frame.

http://www.virtualdub.org/ Download ist, start it, load your video, search nfor your scene and just "press CTRL+1 or CTRL+2 to coppy the frame to your clipboard.

For me I use Sony Vegas, can slow mo and step any frame. It has a great GUI and works really well for looking at your pyro work in detail.

I use Vegas for video editing, as well, but hey let´s stay realistic. Virtual Dub does (in this case) the same work but its only a few kb in size and FREE, as he asked for it :)

It says Vdub isnt compatible with.mov.

Yeah, thats the case with some odd codecs like wmv and .mov.

In this case its time for software like VLC and others mentioned here!
