hashashan: No special shape. This is not important. I manufactured special shape from my begining. The shape copy chinese hemi-flovers for strawboard/press method. They use only two paper layers.

I just making hemispheres like japanese, from paper wheel, which is 8 x cut. Like on this paper:

I pasting 5 layers for 70mm shell, and 6 papers for 90mm shell. Dextrine is perfect, but must be parched to brovnish colour, for perfect dissolve. Brovn dextrine glue is clear, without undissolved starch. You must make full-bodied solution.

Hallo Sensei. Why? Why do you want make hemispheres from paper flovers? Special paper shapes are unnecessary, only for chinese factories for two layers of strawboard. Henispheres from my pictures are made from 8 x cut papers and japanese make hemispheres with the same method, but in hydraulics Press. Trust me, easy paper wheels are better for amateurs.

Wheels:
1.) = perimeter of shell /2=d /2 = r of main wheel :-) for 70 mm shell is perimeter 219 mm/2=109,9/2=55mm, d=55mm
2.) = wheel with 70mm diameter like shell and mould.
3.) = 1/3 r of main wheel

I just know that easy paper wheel are better for work, minimum work with scissors, and perfect product too.
Easy wheel create speciall pattern.

Nice I use cardboard - 2 layers x 1mm or 0,8mm, so I must use paper-flower... Easy wheel only work with draw paper

KarlosH : do you have an upper mould to press the hemis? how do you press the paper layers together?
how did you make the upper mould?

I've tried this method with and without an upper mould, and found it works best to simply use my fingers and smooth out the paper against the previous layer. With the upper mould the paper had a tendency to crumple, and the end result didn't look very pretty. It may work better with thicker paper though, I was using normal drawing paper.

hashashan: I use only fingers, and mainly rounded plastic haft of screwdriver. Mowements in the form are similar to movements with pestle in the ceramics grinding mortar. It is time-consumer work.
Two type of move:
1. Rotate with plastic haft in the mold.
2. Pressing mowements with haft from margin to down and back. Haft must be smooth and must sliding on surface, paper.
You can´t use only thin paper to printer(many layers), but optimal is drawing thicker paper. Small number of paper layers, and easy work.

sorry for the double post
made a few hemis KarlosH's way, they do turn out perfect and easy to make, but I do have another problem with them. After spending couple of hours not in the mould they deform and get an eliptic form. Anyone else have this problem?
How do you dry your hemis?

If you make only two hemispheres, you can leave them in the mold. If you make more hemispheres, you can use this columned method:

Hemispheres must not be deformed, maybe only a little. You can shape them in youre hands.
Hashashan:
Send any pictures of youre hemispheres!!!!
Important note: The more water in the glue... the more deformed shape in drying.

Well the method works just fine now.
made two perfect hemis. one with dextrin glue and another one with sodium silicate.
I have to say that the dextrin is much better then the silicate, and it is easier to work with.
I first dry t in the oven for 10 minutes and then I take it out.
Ill post pictures shortly
