If anyone is interested...........there are a few people selling those brass lab sieves (makers name `Endecotts`) on ebay!........not cheap, but reasonable value considering what you would have to pay new!

Try your local pottery supply company. They have 5 gallon bucket screens pre made and different mesh sizes. They also carry a few pyro chems at usually low prices. Black Copper II Oxide, Red Iron Oxide, Strontium Carbonate, Calcium Carbonate just to name a few.

Ok now Ive had chance to picture them here are a few of my sieves. The total collection includes all the mesh screen sizes I have available to me so far 1#, 2#, 4#, 6#, 8#, 10#, 12#, 16#, 20#, 30#, 40#, 60#, 80#, 100#, 150#, 250# and 400#

everything up to and including 100# came out perfect first time but the 250# and 400# as they are so fine proved a little difficult to stretch over the tubs as they cooled.

Those look great, very inventive! Do they take up tons of room?

Not really as they all stack down eachother.

The full set is about 1' by 1' by 4' when packed up

Nice screens, but seems a lot of work to make them doesn't it?

I found a website that sells the screens in a wooden frame, bought these and painted the wooden part with transparent lac.

Hi all,

I have a quantity of surplus endecotts sieves, both 4 inch and 6 inch diameter in various mesh sizes which are surplus to my requirements. PM me if you are interested,

I recently bought a "splatter guard" from Sainsburys.

It is a flat 12" dia sieve of about #30 mesh woven stainless.

Not bad for £1.49 !!
